The largest night in fashion, the first Monday in May, wouldn't exist without a reliable source of models on the red carpet. And the Met Gala scene in 2024 was no different. On Monday night, supermodels could be seen everywhere.
From Kendall Jenner scaling the Met stairs in an exclusive Givenchy gown by Alexander McQueen to Kaia Gerber, who looked stunning in white Prada with sequins (and a hairdo reminiscent of her model mother's), supermodels were everywhere. There was Lily Donaldson, who looks like she hasn't aged a day since the aughts, in champagne-colored Burberry (more on the British label in a moment); Precious Lee, in jet black dragonfly wings by Bad Binch Tongtong; Ashley Graham, in striking, garden-gothic Ludovic de Saint Sernin; and Gigi Hadid, in a jaw-dropping Thom Browne gown embroidered with 2,800,000 micro-beads.
Amelia Gray got the unique opportunity to don a dress from Jun Takahashi's spring 2024 collection—a light-up terrarium dress—that is featured in the book "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion." Karlie Kloss wore cherry blossom-shaped Swarovski crystals somewhere else at the Met, and Anok Yai wore a beautiful catsuit adorned with the same well-known, shimmering stones.
Vittoria Ceretti looked stunning in a white Alaïa as she arrived with actress and K-pop star Jennie Kim, while Adwoa Aboah showed off her pregnancy in an orangey-red two-piece H&M outfit. Moreover, Linda Evangelista, who was attending the Met Gala for the first time in almost ten years, exuded elegance in a custom Khaite.
Personally, I adored Alton Mason's headpiece and Quannah Chasinghorse's forget-me-not flower accents, which complemented the lavender color of her H&M outfit was equally striking while wearing a stylish Thom Browne tailcoat, which revealed his bare chest. But possibly the night's best-dressed model? Daniel Lee created a handmade Burberry for one Naomi Campbell. Her blue garment, which was a combination of morning bloom and fresh ice, created a dazzling effect that silenced the reporters as she walked along the carpet towards the museum's entrance.
